Inherent in the Girl Scout program is every girl's
right to enjoy, know, appreciate and preserve the natural environment.
Camp Wawbansee, located on 140 wooded acres in Arcadia, Louisiana,
is owned and operated by Girl Scouts Pelican Council and is accredited
by American Camping Association. Our rustic facilities feature a
dining hall with cooking facilities, infirmary, trading post, swimming
pool, a 4-acre canoe lake and covered pavilions.
The campground is divided into units which each feature cabins equipped
with a fan that house the girls and a bathhouse with hot and cold
water, washbasins, toilets and showers.
Camp staff is trained in program enrichment, outdoor living skills,
behavior management, problem solving and many other applicable disciplines.
Camp Wawbansee's health and safety standards are developed by Girl
Scouts of the USA and the American Camping Association (ACA). The
health supervisor is on duty 24 hours on site. Our waterfront staff
is American Red Cross and YMCA certified. All other staff is certified
Red Cross First Aid and CPR.
Camp Wawbansee is an ideal area for learning many things about the
outdoors and the world around us. It is a place where one can have
fun and also have a quiet moment in time and enjoy nature at its
fullest.
